I am looking to buy a wireless bluetooth mouse to us with my Sony vaio sve1512k1ew laptop, instead of the touchpad as using a mouse is more comfortable, ive found but ill still use the laptop keyboard

but there are many brands so was wondering what others think is the best?

i have always trusted apple products and have seen the magic mouse which looks like a possibility

i like the fact you can scroll up/down left/right without a s=wheel and just touching/swiping the mouse
but i read a review complaining about the face it isnt that great resting your palm on for a long term as it doesn't have the common lump/raised palm area rest and is flat so your palm hovers over the mouse and you clutch thw sides with your fingers

so are there any a decent bluetooth mouse out there others would recommend?

Try out the Targus Comfort Mouse:
Amazon.com : Targus Bluetooth Comfort Laser Mouse AMB09US (Black with Gray) : Computer Mice : Electronics

It's pretty much the only bluetooth mouse I could stand :)

I don't know but for my usage I gotten M$ bluetooth 5000 mouse that works well for my usage but I have dells that come with Bluetooth devices which has good feedback. But they are no longer made and you can only find them on eBay though. But knowing where you located would limit you to what in the way of bluetooth mouse you can have and use as well.

Unless you have a Mac running Windows 8 under Bootcamp, I wouldn't even think twice about the Magic Mouse. It doesn't use standard Bluetooth HID drivers. It uses proprietary Apple drivers. You have to have them installed and to install them you have to have a Mac for the installer to even run.

Also, you'll see guides online that have extracted the drivers from a Bootcamp update package... it's really 100,000x more difficult than it should be, so IMHO, it's not even worth the time and effort.

OK, thanks fir the warning, i just assumed you simply plug in the apple mouse and install the drivers, but the youtube video was of win8 on a macbook pro,
ill just go for a mouse meant for windows OS

Do you notice any input lag with Bluetooth mouses? I find there is a slight lag sometimes but it could be just me. The magic mouse isn't bad, just a bit annoying playing games with it since there is no physical scroll wheel to move just one 'click' instead of smoothly scrolling. You play any games much? And do you naturally turn up the mouse tracking speed from 'normal' settings? Go try some in your local pc world or currys, they have quite a few out to rest your hand on and try. I personally prefer a full size mouse than the notebook style ones.

I have a RAT 3 mouse, not bad for what it is. But its wired, so no batteries to worry about and no real input lag that I majorly notice.

    thanks,

dddenn do you think it would be easy then to set up a apple magic mouse of a win8 pc laptop?

the fact you need batteries is annoying but so is the 2m cable on my wired mouse!

ant, how often do you use the mouse in a given day and how often do you need to replace the batteries
    - my mouse is used like 14 hours a day, so dont want to have tp replace the batteries every few days

Its still a mouse so it should be recognised as one anyways. The smooth scrolling may not be natively supported but you can get a driver for that anyways and depends if the application also supports it. Should setup like any other mouse otherwise.

Battery wise it should last a few months without the need to be switched off, if just left on the desk anyways. You might want to try buy one from apple stre, if you can find a student i think they do discount on it as well. You can always return it if you find it doesnt work or doesnt suit your needs. There are similar microsoft style ones as well with the trackpad top to it.

Wrong, sir. The Wireless Magic Mouse won't do a thing without Apple's special HID drivers. I've tried. Maybe on certain Widcomm/Broadcom bluetooth stacks you MAY get pointing support and left click support, but you won't get right click or scrolling which makes it just about useless.

It works fine on my windows laptop, however I do agree it has severly limited functionality (point and click like you said) without manually installing drivers.
