I have a G50VTX6 and I want to purchase a 24 inch monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1080 (16:9). Since the native resolution of the laptop is 1680 x 1050 (16:10), would my picture get all messed up? Right now, I am looking at the display settings on my laptop and the highest resolution is 1680x1050. Is there a way to boost the resolution up to 1920x1080 so the external monitor won't look blurry and messed up?

ALSO, What is the best monitor I can get for under $400

The reason why the it only goes up to 1680x1050 on the laptop is cause it's the native resolution of the laptop's screen. If you plugged in an external monitor, you would be able to set the resolution of your monitor on your laptop and your EXTERNAL monitor separately, so you'd be able to have your laptop's display at 1680x1050 at 16:10 and your external at 1920x1080 at 16:9 without any problems.

Remember you can have different monitor settings as well...you can extend your desktop and have the external act as more space, you can have your whole screen go to your external monitor, or have them both display the same thing.

But the short answer, no you won't run into any problems.

    Thanks!
Also, the external monitor has one HDMI input, VGA input, and DVI input. If the HDMI port is already used up by my gaming console, can my laptop still have sharp images (HD) if I use VGA cables?? Or it doesn't matter what cables I use, it doesn't affect the image quality in any way?
(I intend using HDMI for my gaming console and VGA for my laptop)
