My friend has a M1330 laptop and needs an external HDD in about 4 months .Please tell which is the best brand (in terms of performance,ESPECIALLY RELIABILITY).I will buy it in USA(preferably online) and be taking it to india, so it has to be 110% reliable coz my friend wont have any warranty in india.I am confused, there are many brands-Seagate,WD,Toshiba to name a few.Note that i want it in sizes bw 80gb -320gb-STRICTLY under 50$.Please help me out guys.No refurbs(though it wont effect :p )
    Thanks you

If it is an external HDD does it strictly need to be 2.5"? I guess this is so it is easier to carry around. I think there are 12.5mm triple platter 1TB drives about.

Buy a WD Scorpio Black or a 7K500 or a 7200.4 and the enclosure of your choice. Simple and effective.

Get a Western Digital. As far as I know the warranty on the hard drive is world wide.

i suggest Hitachi 7K500.. its reliable and cheap... although best option is Seagate Momentus XT which is hybrid SSD but expensive..
