I'm going to be buying a clevo m560a barebones notebook soon, researching what parts to buy for it.

What are the best brands for 200 pin 533 mhz DDR2 SDRAM?
    (or any RAM...)

What are the best brands for SATA 7200 RPM hard drives?
    (or any HDs...)

I've heard Corsair, Crucial, and Kingston for RAM, and Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi, Maxtor, and IBM for HDs. Anyone else?

OK, my vote for HD goes to Seagate, for their drives with 16MB cache, or hitatchi, for their reliability. IBM, I belive, no longer makes hard drives.

As for RAM, it's really not that important; all DDR2 533 RAM has the same speed and timings, so what's cheapest (usualy Transcend) is what's best.

Hitachi reliable and excellent performance. Seagate is excellent also. Ibm was **** my drive was horrible and eventually flatout died!

As for ram I would recommend micron and crucial (discliamer:both are big local businesses in my area) and corsair (for gaming/performance) and kingston is good also.

Hitachi bought IBMs disk drive division so Hitachi/IBM are the same. The 7k100 is the fastest notebook hard drive and is cheaper than the Seagate which runs cooler and quieter.
