Well, www.newegg.com is a great place for RAM and has great prices. Stay away from brands like Gigaram...they have alot of bad RAM.
Personally I would go with Transcend (Samsung), Kingston, and Crucial.
You can also check out zipzoomfly.com. -
It's still rare, but you can probrably find them at select places, at a premium of course.
ZipZoomFly and NewEgg are good places to start -
I believe ZipZoomFly has the best price on DDR2 667 RAM. I was looking for that today. They have Corsair for $115 each with free 2-day shipping.
Newegg has the Corsair for around $125 each with $5 shipping. -

thanks everyone!
yes, i'll compare newegg and zipzoomfly and go that route. the DDR2 667MHz isn't so rare that you don't save big $$$ going aftermarket. probably do the same with an external DVD burner and a HD (7200RPM) upgrade.

If you don't mind the 533Mhz ram runs about $80 cheaper for 2GB and there isn't a noticable difference. But that is a personal choice, just thought that I would mention it.

and it's not incompatible? forgive the ignorance...

It is compatable, alot of people use the 533 instead because of the cost difference.

Also...if you can hold off another month or two, you might see a drop in price. I imagine some of it's sort of in short supply due to recent demand by manufacturers for the newer machines that use it. Also...stuff's always more expensive right off the bat. I'd think it'll drop by 10% or so in the next month...maybe more.

Corsair works...
-
I agree with what has been said. Newegg and Zipzoom fly are great places to buy RAM. I also recommend looking at Slick Deals. Ocasionally on that site they will have crazy deals on RAM... like RAM for free after rebates...
-
I'm looking at the same.
What brand of memory is better?? Trascend, Corsair, Crucial?
I found this one not so expensive (Trascend)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820208031
And this also at good price
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=90054
And besides why is crucial so expensive?

Go to Newegg.com, but stay away from cheap brands. Kingston, Crucial, and GEIL are all good quality brands. Also, make sure you go to crucial.com to make sure you are buying the right kind.
-
Stay away from Trascend, i have bought one before and it is crap, but corsair is also good.
-
I think i will go for corsair, crucial is u$s 60 dollars higher (and i going to buy two modules, so there is a u$s 120 difference).
But i'm spending u$s 1500 in an HP dv1000t and i don't want to buy incompatible RAM for it. Anyone could tell me why such difference with Corsair? Is so much better?
Thanks again -
