Compressed air? Any ways that are cheap and less time consuming than my method? Which is sliding a piece of torn piece of paper inbetween the keys and running them around the edges of each key and pulling out dust and crap. It works great just time consuming.

    xkcd: Keyboards are Disgusting

Heh. Do you mean clean the keys of the keyboard or between them? Do you have a schematic for you laptop because sometimes you can take apart the keyboard or at least separate it from the notebook (making it much easier to clean).

The absolute best way is to remove your keyboard from your laptop. Once you do that, you can use compressed air to blow out debris without that debris ending up deeper into your laptop chassis. You can also submerge the keyboard in warm soapy water, if there were spills or gunk that dried on the keys or keyboard body.

If removing your laptop keyboard isn't an option, then you could:
Turn your laptop off... flip your laptop upside down, and shake it. You'll be amazed how much stuff comes out. Once you do that, then use compressed air to blow out whatever is left. Keep your laptop upside down when you do this - if you have your laptop right-side-up, then all you will do is blow all of that debris deeper into the laptop chassis.

I mean I totally believe you that you could submerge your keyboard in warm soapy water, but I just don't think I could ever do that.

A good alcohol wipe will clean it without posing a danger to the electronics, once you've taken care of all the "big" stuff with the compressed air. Just make sure the machine is off and the battery is removed before doing ANY serious cleaning ;)
