My e1705 came with a 90W PSU to provide power in its default layout, but given that I push a mean OC on my 7800 and run my fans at full speed all the time, I'm curious if I would be safer with the XPS 120W PSU. I also upgraded to 2GB RAM and plan on a Merom upgrade and 7200RPM drive upgrade. While I'm sure the 90W PSU can technically handle it, there's a reason the XPS notebooks come with the heftier PSU and a good PSU is key for desktop PCs...

Also, while I have no objective data to back up the following claim, I am pretty sure that my power supply is much hotter after extended use than it was when I first got it. Anyone know a good place to order the PSU I need without paying out the nose?

if you've increased the voltage of card, then yes, it would be safer. More Is usually safer. The question you mean to ask is "Is it practical?"

My answer, might as wellsince you seem to want one, and then you can overvolt if you haven't already.
