    I have a compaq Armada 1598 dmt rather old win 95. I am tryng to get into bios and it wont let me.I have tried just about every code f 11 f10 Does anyone know the answer could it be a hardware problem. First off th e hardrive is shot

    F8 takes you into safe mode.

    Try pressing Delete - that usually works!

    I would try delete or escape. Failing that F1 or F2. This site gives a good selection of keys to press to enter the BIOS (but it shows F10 for Compaq). This site gives Ctrl-Alt-Esc is another possible key combination and here it suggests you may need the diagnostics floppy.

    Sometimes it is a matter of getting the timing right for pressing the key(s). This is usually when the BIOS splash screen (with computer or BIOS name) appears.

    usually your manual might give you this info, wonder if HP have these around since they ate compaq up a while back.
