The subtitle really brings these reprobate devil worshipers' evil scheme into perspective:

The ability to boot DOS and other legacy relics is going to disappear.

The industry needs to kick Micro$haft where the sun don't shine. They are the Nazis driving this, and for self-serving reasons. They need to be taken down and begin following orders rather than giving them. Their being in the driver's seat is like the tail wagging the dog.

They did take up decisions based on telemetry of today's people. I reckon only 5% people actually delve into BIOS to tweak these days. Be it Desktop or laptop or tablet since phones are locked down with EFI so based on everyone's telemetry data its safe to assume they'll even deprecate the actual UI exposed to tweak BIOS settings like we do it now.
Every vendor thinks of locking it down to prioritize safety and security. We will be forcefully need to accept that fact.
Future gadgets will be the beginning of Skynet taking over our lives in reality.

It's because they love you and want to protect you, right!?

Or is it done for the same old two reasons as for thousands of years:

    Money & Power (control)

Creating a problem to sell the solution is just still working as damn good as it did back then.

Nothing new here, learn, remember and keep on walking...

The OLD BIOS Implementation will be laughing at newer crippled BIOS if the end user actually use Wifi on older and newer devices simultaneously.

As you know, by using vbios mods we upgrade gpus in latops with help of bios mods, but this new bios means nothing could be upgraded in laptop anymore!! @Prema knows about this stuff very wel.
