Right my friend has a laptop, its in very good condition and everything
but she turned on her laptop this morning and found it had a "blotch" kind of mark on it - she has wiped it but that didnt remove it so it has to be on the inside of the screen its about 5-10cm in from the edge so i dont think that it could be dust and i am sure that its not a dead pixel, its way too big its about 1mm x 1mm and is very noticeable any ideas what this could be? and how to safely remove it

As far as im aware the laptop lid hasnt been pressing up against, the laptop has been been away in its case, but has another laptop leaning up against it when they are not being used however the Lid doesnt have any marks on it making it look like its been pressed on too much

Dust can wiggle anywhere inside of the screen. Unfortunately, there is no conventional way you can "blow" it out without opening the panel itself. You can always try shaking it, but I don't think it will help. Just deal with it.

On most notebooks, the screws are hidden under the rubber feet around the display bezel.

the problem is that its quite a big and easily notable on all the time unless the screen background is dark and i can see why she is getting annoyed with it as its quite big

I've seen screens that had dust bigger than 1 x 1mm. Just like dead pixels, it is uncommon for screens to have noticeable pieces of dust, but not rare. Unless you are willing to replace the panel yourself, by warranty, or by computer repair shop, there really isn't much you can do about it.
