Could you just purchase an internal Blu-Ray Burner and a firewire or usb 2.0 Enclosure and use it as an external one?

Yes, you can, quite simple. Just make sure you use the correct drivers. You will also need some sort of external power supply for your external blu-Ray drive.

That's awesome thanks for the response! All the CD/DVD drives fit in a 5.25" enclosure right? Just double checking before acctually buying one. The drivers will work with the drive through Firewire or USB 2.0 just the same as ATA or IDE whatever it is right? Depends, or no? lol

Yeah, the blu-ray drive should fit. The only limitation is if the 5.25" enclosure is long enough to hold the blu-ray drive and the ide to usb converter. Yes, the drivers should work the same. The only drivers you really need are the ones which come with your blu-ray drive, and teh drivers which come with the converter.

Thank you very much for your responses. I actually just found an external one for cheaper than if I were to buy them separately so I'll be looking into purchasing that one. I've yet to place an order for my iMac that's my first step lol.
