The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. Is there a chipset or ethernet card that replaces the Intel 2200 so I can have bluetooth capability on a Sony s series notebook? I really don't want to have a external or usb bluetooth if possible.

No, it requies an antenna, so your only route is external at this point.

Agreed - without the antenna you will have very limited range and reception. Get the external - that's your only opt.

well couldn't u use the same antenna as the wireless ethernet card (from the intel 2200 wireless pro)? also i do not need something that reaches far. probably just a 2 ft radius. i am going to use this for connecting a bluetooth mouse.

It uses a seperate antenna. The problem I see that you will have will be interference and reception - the card is inside the notebook, so you might have some interference problems because pretty much everything in the notebook can cause it. The antenna carries the signal out of the computer.

Right, the mouse will come with a dongle anyway in most cases.
