As you will soon see by my quesion, I am new to the world of laptops. I purchased a dell 700m a few days ago and I was wondering if it was practical to replace the internal modem (which i won't ever use) for an internal bluetooth card? Bluetooth was not an option for the 700m. I know there are external cards but if it is possible I would rather have an internal. I really don't know hardware so I appreciate all of your informed advice.

I feel your pain. I doubt that removing the worthless modem will allow for a internal bluetooth card connection. you'll notice that there is plenty of space next to the modem for bluetooth possibility. what i mean is that if dell or intel or broadcom ever make a combo WLAN+Bluetooth Mini-PCI Card, the 700m should be easily be able to accomodate. If not, definitely trash the modem for space.
right now im using a microsoft dongle and i want to break it to pieces. -
WHy not use a PCMCIA card. You slide it in and only a small portion for the antenna sticks out. Almost as good as internal. Here some samples

Unless of course the 700m doesn't have a slot.
