I am looking at getting a laptop and considering getting bluetooth with it. What can I do with bluetooth.

Connect devices wirelessly w/o the need to plug them like thru an usb port.
Things like printers, cell phones, mice, keyboards etc. -

There's not much you can do with Bluetooth at this point. I've heard of mouse and keyboards that frequently disconnect when using bluetooth and transfer rate is veryy slow when connecting with a cell phone. The best part about it may be that you don't have an ugly dongle sticking out of your USB port when using a mouse.

I use it mainly to connect to my 3G phone for Internet service to the laptop. The cable is always faster but sometimes the bluetooth is nice if you don't want to carry a cable around with you.
Other common uses - wireless headphones, mouse & keyboard, contacts sync, etc.
I don't think it's an essential feature, but for $20 why not throw it in? -

You can have a Mouse or Keyboard with no USB connector. Connect a phone (take pics off and get free ringers by putting your own songs on). Connect a printer, and some other things. But all of those devices have to have bluetooth too. Id say for $20 its probably worth it, unless there is a CPU or HDD upgrade for the same.

I too used the bluetooth to connect my cell phone to get online. using cable to connect to the cell phone, it can download at 600kbps. with bluetooth, it can download at 320kbps. I lost half of the speed using bluetooth but it is more convenient without cable hassel. -
I concur...it's so cheap, why not add it just in case. For example, you may find a mouse down the line that is bluetooth that you really love, and then you'd need to buy a mini-card that is more expensive than the built-in one.
I use my HTC Touch PDA-Phone, Bluetooth travel mouse, and stereo headphone/headset....it's great!... -
Bluetooth is a must have on new or older computers with the popularity of mobile phones now.
File transfer for Photo's is the main use.

I connect my phone to my computer via bluetooth and transfer files back and forth. It's not necessary, but nice. I already had a USB wireless mouse, so I can't comment on bluetooth mice, but the idea of not having a dongle sticking out of your computer is nice.

I use a Bluetooth mouse on my laptop and a mouse/keyboard on one of my desktops. I've also used it to connect a Treo smartphone to a laptop. It was convenient because I could keep the cable for the Treo connected to my desktop and sync wirelessly to the laptop. However like 'thnk' said it can be very slow compared to the cabled connection.

Well for me, I bought a laptop without BT, Card reader...a budget dual-core laptop with Enough Graphics to let me play HL2...
Then i bought USB Hub+ Card reader separately (just to transfer digi cam photos ..otherwise i dont use them so often)... so i saved SGD $400
