I have an m-6333 Gateway notebook running Windows 7 and Windows XP Pro with 3Gb RAM. GL960 Chipset (Depending on utility - shows up as GM965). Regardless, I recently upgraded my CPU(Intel T2390 Pentium Dual Core 1.86Ghz / 533Mhz FSB) to the T7500 Core2Duo 2.2Ghz/800Mhz FSB. My motherboard supports the FSB... Everything ran fine. then I turned it off, back on, and bluetooth dissappeared.... even from "device manager" I tried the Fn+F6 to turn it on to no avail. Tried to re-install the driver to no avail - install stopped midway through advising me to "Turn the Bluetooth on", which I of course couldnt do. I did a complete fresh install dual of XP Pro. Same scenario - - bluetooth is there, then disappears. Then, somethime later (a couple reboots later) it reappears! Only to disappear again the next time I turn it on! Did a Fresh install if Windows 7 with the same results. I tried making the BT device the first thing I installed... I tried leaving it in the off position and installing it last.... Still with the same results. . . Somethimes I have bluetooth, sometimes I dont. No rhyme or reason that I have concluded. An intital thought was that perhaps the new processor was drawing too much power... but they both have the same power requirements! I went into the bios to see if there were any settings that could control the BT, and its options were to either be "Always On" with each restart, "Always Off" with each restart, or "Restore" which would do what ever it was when the machine is turned of, i.e., leave it off if it was off at last session, or leave it on if it was on at last session. I tried each of the settings, and always received the same inconsistant BT on sometimes, sometimes dissappeared! I tried using the default BT driver, I tried using the required Widcomm Driver, each time with the same result. I use the bluetooth primarily with my mouse, and my mobile phone, so it is (was!) used often.... Can anybody think of something I missed?

Take it apart again and see if you have not crossed anything during the CPU upgrade.
cheers ... -
There was nothing to cross. Simply unplug the fan(which only plugs in one way. Turn one screw, old CPU pops out, set in new CPU, turn screw, plug fan back in.

I have had this problem on a dv9000 before. Try to reconnect the bluetooth and reseat the wireless card. I know some times the wireless switch on the laptop turns the bluetooth on and off too.

I think it has been corrected. I have been able to turn the notebook off and on approx 4-5 times, and bluetoth continues to be available! It seemed to correct it after I: Removed internal WIFI card, and Removed internal Sprint card, turned computer on, then turned it off, put cards back in, then turned it on again. I dont get it... But as soon as I gave up trying to understand geometry in high school, my grades improved so I'll leave it at that. I dont understand why that worked, but it did.

Nope, I was wrong, although it worked ther first6-10 times I turned my ntebook off and on today, this time I turned it on, and magically - No Bluetooth. Not in the taskbar, nor in the device manager.... It initially appered that the suggestion of removing the wifi cards then returning them worked, appearantly, it didn't.
