I bought a new HP dv-7 a few weeks back and it has two free mini PCI-e slots that are intended for a internal tv tuner and phone card. (neither will be used for this)

In the HP forum a member said that HP has some whitelist? only HP cards would work is that it?

So this whitelist sounds a bit fishy. any way to find out how they enable only their cards?

How about using a Mini PCI-e SSD as the operating system drive? I dont know if the BIOS would recognize the drive as a boot device.
