    Is there a negative effect if i turn on/off my laptop severl times a day?

    It was designed for such use. It's certainly possible for parts to wear down (especially the few moving parts) or succum to thermal break down but it's not something you should be concerned with.

    If you are only going to be a short amount of time between powering on/off, I would just stand by - puts less stress on the notebook.
