I was wondering if anybody knew anything that I could do here before I decide to send my drive back to Dell or sell it on.

My computer takes a 2.5 Sata HD. I bought this 1.8 UATA drive from Dell.
    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=341-4872

It is advertised as having an adapter that will allow somebody to connect it to a Sata controller. I was also under the impression as well that you could get some 1.8-.2.5 adapters.

My item arrived today and I doubt if what was advertised as an adapter is actually one.

I know that these drives can work in a Dell 4230/430 without any adaption and these drives I believe can take standard 4200 rpm 1.8 UATA drives also.

So does anybody know if I can do anything that will get this to work or it is just not possible?
    Thanks

That looks like the ZIF connector used for some 1.8" drives. This adaptor would convert it to 2.5" IDE. I don't see any corresponding interface for SATA but you could ask the people at Span.

Thank you John i don't think that it can be done maybe unless i take the computer apart?

I contacted Span and this is the reply that i got just now, they were very helpful as well.

That's a quick reply from Span. Looking more closely at the picture of that part I see that the connector faces upwards. I had assumed that the pins would be horizontal so that the unit would have the same form factor as a 2.5" IDE HDD.

It looks as if what you have got is the soli state version of the ZIF connector HDDs listed here. I've just got a Sony G11 which has the MK1011GAH but I'm not planning to dismantle it yet to check the connector (and 32GB is much too little space for me).

Thanks John i think that i am going to forget this SSD business now.
I will probably RMA it back to Dell if i have problems trying to sell it on.

    Edited to add:
It is a big shame that i never read the review on the Dell website before i bought this drive. That review was just posted after i bought my drive. :(

Hey, if you have problems selling it, or not, I'd be really interested :)
