    Hello,

I am getting a new hd soon. But what brand is usually lowest cost hd w/o effecting the quality of the hd? I am looking for a 80 GB or 100 GB HD. I dont like autioning, ebay, ubig, etc. I am searching and compare at pricegrabber, yahoo's shopper and froogle.

    Thank you.

Look at Hitachi/Seagate/Fujitsu HDD's, they are some of the best.

    I got a TOSHIBA MK8026GAX (80 GB, 5400 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100) for $89 from Fry's , here in Seattle back in December.
I have had no problems with it so far. I format the hdd often, since I use it for testing new versions of Windows Vista OS. I don't thinks it's any louder then my Fujitsu I have and it runs about the same temp.
My reason for the choice was price, I could not find anything cheaper at the time.

Ewwwww, no, don't look at Fujitsu or Toshiba. If you MUST you can take a look at some Samsungs, but I would have to suggest the ever popular Seagates/Hitachis and of course my favourite, the new Western Digital Scorpio harddrives.

    Cheers,
    Mike
