Can anybody tell me if this is the same as the BCM70015 coming soon with Intel Pinetrail netbooks?

That sounds awesome, looks like a little pci-e card, but wonder how it works. I also wonder if you can add it into a current netbook without issues.

I have seen thisd before, but not made by broadcom.

This thing is basically a co-processor which the computer is able to offload data for it to decode. It's very similiar to ati/nvidia's GPU HD video acceleration.

This is a stupid option. Buy an Ion system. It'll at least be cross platform and better in the long run.

Intel did a stupid monopolistic thing when it forced Intel GPUs on Atoms.

My guess is it's not a GPU but rather a media decoder... it just takes the decoding work off of the CPU. But... that's just a guess.

Both Intel and AMD are putting their gpu's on the cpu, its the way of the future. It brings down heat and sytem costs.

i like how they create all sort of funky extensions for the mini pcie in netbooks. from ssds to media encoders, really fun :) now if the pcie of normal notebooks wouldn't be crippled, one could use that stuff in ordinary notebooks as well.. :)
