Hey all,
I am attempting to repair my brother's very old laptop (he now have the E1505). He had it for like at least 7 years. I don't know all of the problems are but here are some, screen doesn't work, hinges are very lose (when I close the lid half-way, the lid just fall), and it seems to have power button problem.
Any ideas what I need to look for fixing the problems?
As for the screen, I got an idea that the ribbon is loose somehow.
If I can't repair it, I used it as for parts and probably sell them.
TIA.

I do own an very old Dell that I have worked on. What I did was purchase two other broken laptops of the same make and model for extremely cheap and hope that I had enough good parts to make one good laptop. It so happened that I did have lots of good parts and had a stock of extra parts in case something broke.
Also, you will make more money selling the whole computer for parts than taking the time to disassemble it and sell them separately. You might also think about taking the hard drive out if you sell it and putting it in an external enclosure for spare storage. -
Yeah...this laptop is totally not worth the repair. I probably sell it.
And I was going to do that...taking out the hd...in matter of fact, I just took it out. Not bad hd, 30 GB 4,200 RPM by Hitachi. After I make into an external HD, I will just give it to my sister. I already got an external HD.
