I have a dell xps m1530 that my wonderful daughter dropped. The screen just does not work. It has vert lines but mostly black. I can still adjust the brightness of the screen but it does not display. I booted up in safe mode and used an external monitor to unload the driver for the LCD so now I can boot straight to an external monitor and everything else seems to work. Since I can adjust the brightness of the screen is it safe to assume that the inverter and backlights work just fine and the graphics card is ok. So all I will need to replace is the screen? Thanks for any input.

If the screen isn't actually cracked, try re-seating the connector first. It might be a simple problem like that...

I have taken it the screen out and checked all the connections and everythings seems to be fine. the screen is not cracked and shows no visible sign of breakage.
