I have a hp pavilion dv6. Its has a built in web cam. I bought the laptop with vista operating system and then upgraded it to windows 7. Now that it is on windows 7 I constantly have to download the driver for the webcam everytime I use it! I have turned off automatic updates thinking this was the issue but its still happening. I dont know why it constantly replaces the driver. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how do I fix it? When it goes out it just goes to a green screen. Thanks for any help you might have!

What? You shouldn't have to download drivers every time you use it. Have you tried going to support.hp.com and punching in your HP model number and downloading the webcam's Windows 7 driver?

Yes the driver I am downloading is the driver for windows 7. But its like it loses the driver every time and I have to redownload it to get it to work. I just dont understand why it keeps doing this. Its really annoying cause it will do it while I am using the cam. It just suddenly goes out and I have to redownload the driver to make it work again.

Have you tried reimaging your system with Windows 7 again? Maybe you got some corrupt registry value. Never seen that before with HP's webcam software.

Would I still need to uninstall and reinstall the driver manually when that is basically what its doing to me automatically every time?

No I have not tried to reinstall windows 7. I never thought of that cause the only thing that has gone wrong at all it with the webcam.

I have been having the issue for about 6 months now. Ever since I downloaded windows 7

Do you know the manufacturer of the webcam?

In the past i had to use Acer CrystalEye drivers on my dv2500 to get the webcam to work properly. HP has crappy drivers for webcams.
