    Hello,

I am currently looking to buy a new computer
First of all, I live in Canada, Toronto, and I have a budget of up to $1100 CAD

I am thinking should I buy a gaming laptop using all of my money
or buy a portable laptop for school (heavily leaning toward the new Asus 1000he) and then build a gaming desktop using the remainder of the money?

BTW, I am really good in terms of hardware and building. But I can not seem to end up on an answer for my question?
I want the combination from the above choices that gives me maximum potential for gaming using my specified budget.

    Thanks in advance

Fill out the FAQ. What tasks will you be doing? What games?

I personally prefer desktop/laptop combo but your budget isn't much so it depends on what you need to do with your computer(s) and whether you have certain parts.

For your desktop: do you need a monitor? keyboard/mouse? speakers? do you have any other parts you can reuse (sound card, etc.)

I was in the same position as you a few months ago. I could get either a good desktop along with a netbook, or a good laptop, but I had $1000USD to spend, or roughly $1200CAD.

Do you need a monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc?

If you do need all of these, then just get the nice laptop. I found that it wasn't really possible to get a full high-powered gaming computer AND good quality peripherals in for less than $700, because $300 would be spent on the netbook.

If you don't need any of the extra stuff, then it's a bit different. You could go either way, really.
