Has anyone had the idea or can anyone come up with such a thread that comprises of a list of top recommended products? We all know the wireless router shopping is a total crap shoot...you just cant go out and buy one and hope its good...i have bought 2 wireless routers/ APs and they both have sucked! We know SSDs are a total crap shoot too. Along with many other devices and hardware. Does anyone know enough to make such a list for the ultimate buying guide on what hardware is good and bad and whats a good bang for your buck? I honestly can't make it because i don't know that much about such a wide span of hardware.

Anyone got the knowledge and brains to make such an awesome list?

can some move this to tech bargains...i assume it should go there.....my bad :/

Well one product isn't necessarily better than another, which is why its usually better to post a thread and see the input of multiple people based on what you need the product for.

The problem is that technology changes so fast and by the time products mature, they're replaced.

The Core i series is generally a good product line. Beyond saying that, any advice is only useful for a few weeks or irrelevant for specific purposes. That's why computing magazines and blogs can publish a new "best of" guide every other month - the last one is already old news. Unless you're willing to update it at least weekly until forever, it's not a good use of time.

It may not be the routers, but your location/setup/interference?
SSDs are not a crap shoot, but they are a new technology. And like any new product, they tend to have a period of instability in the beginning.
There are many such lists available by many publication and test groups. The problem is finding one that's consistently reliable. Consumer Reports is a good starting place, but will not go as in-dept as most of the bonafied laptop publications.

This is why publications like PC Magazine and others are still around. Look for their annual product performance issues.
