Please bear in mind, i plan to play Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Far Cry 2, etc. I read that gpus are more important, but what i want to know is if upgrading from:
Intel® P9500 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Duo 2.53GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 25 watt
to
~Intel® X9100 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Duo Extreme 3.06GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB
(Overclockable up to 3.53GHz!)
or even
~Intel® QX9300 45nm "Montevina" Core2 Quad 2.53GHz w/12MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB
will make a huge difference in gaming. Or is it mostly the gpu that matters most, and the 2.53 core 2 duo is sufficient? Please help me decide between these 3 processors.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
In gaming it is the GPU that matters the most, but you of course don't want a CPU that'll bottleneck the graphics card(s). Usually a high-clocked dual-core is still better than a lower-clocked quad-core, though you probably don't need to go so far as to get an X9100. The T9800 or the T9600, maybe even the P9500 should suffice.
You may see a small improvement going from the P9500 to a higher-clocked chip, but I don't think it's worth the money.
Buying a Sager np5797 for Crysis. Take a core 2 duo or quad?
