I currently have a dell 160gb 5400rpm (reformatted) and 5.5 months later, I only have 17gb left. If I keep this up, I'll be out. The loading times whenever I open up files and applications is too slow for me.

I prefer big space and higher rpm speeds. SSD is too expensive so that's out of the question.

well.. you don't have a dell hd. it's made by someone else.

anyways, you can only get a 200gig 7200 rpm drive, but you can get up to 350gigs with a 5400 rpm

    check newegg.com or tigerdirect.com

If you have xp or Vista, you want to run disk cleanup. My friend has a 200Gb 7k200 and he was using 137Gb of space. I disk cleaned the drive, and in the matter of 10 minutes, the system restore was cleared, and he was only using 65Gb. It is amazing how much space it takes up.
If you hibernate your laptop, you are also storing a lot of information on the drive.
I recommend running disk cleanup. In the "more options" tab, clean up the system restore files, and you will be saving yourself a lot of harddrive space.

After running disk cleanup, defrag your drives and then you should be good for a while.
I recommend running disk cleanup and disk defragmenter every week or every other week. It is good for the harddrive and it helps keep the system running smooth.
