I know it has been asked a million times but I noticed Intel's website lists two different T5500s. One has 479 pins and the other has 478 pins. They list two different T7200s as well. One has 479 pins and the other has 478 pins (surprise surprise). Other than that speedbump it sounds like this upgrade is pretty straight forward providing there is a proper bios. What do you guys think
Thanks,
Josh

What you need is Socket M which has 478 pins (you can try CPU-Z to make sure of the number).
See this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_CPU_slots_and_sockets
(Do not confuse Desktop and Mobile Core 2 Duo laptops)
And I'm sure that such BIOS exists.
The guides and documents all exists on this matter, I think you can find it in the ASUS FAQ.
(Just a note, if you are doing this for better gaming experience I must inform you that the performance gain might be very little since almost all the current games are GPU limited) -
Yes, I am mostly concerned about gaming but you have helped me put my fears to rest. Thanks for the link to the wiki article. It mentioned in there that 'socket p' was just released May 9th, 2007.
thanks for your help! -
When gaming the GPU does most of the work. The CPU is down the list in importance. In my opinion it is probably not worth it. A faster hard drive will give you more zip.

well the hard drive will definitely make windows and your games load faster but as for the gaming itself, this depends on the graphics card most of all. the cpu is important but not as much, though this can depend on the game itself.
