will there be any difference in performance if i use
    667 ddr2 rams + T7200 instead of 533 ddr2 rams?

no right? even on 533 it will stepdown. T7200's fsb is 667/4 = 166.7MHz
that means getting a 667 ram is completely pointless ya? it jus will downclock even more..

    jus wanted to confirm.

what do u mean? 533 and 667 wont see a huge difference but its always preferable to go for 667 DDR2 tho its not really important. the T7200 will run at 667 fsb regardless of what RAM you put. it will simply run it in asynchronous mode and each will run at its designated fsb.

    quad pumped.

it can only run at 166.7 so for a 533/2, 266 it is still more than enuff isnt it?

yeah i get what ya mean with that but all Intel CPUs are "pumped" for ages now. whatever the real fsb is, the effective is still important. it may not be a huge difference in everyday computing but when CPU and RAM intensive appz come into play thats when it will matter.

so no it wont mean much depending on what you are gonna use it for. in the end effective fsb speeds do matter and you will simply be pitting a 667fsb CPU against 533 RAM

The RAM is "pumped" up as well, and no, there is really no performance difference between the two...but only because the latencies on 667 ram are much higher.

I was referring to this post...667 RAM and 667 chipset/CPU/mobo all match up and will perform perfectly fine.

Ditto on what night_2004 said, not really much of any difference between the two due to one running at a slower clockspeed but having tighter latencies, and the other running at a higher clockspeed with looser latencies. It pretty much evens out between these two.

It's all up to buyer's preference on this one, especially now that it's not terribly hard to find 533 and 667 RAM that cost just about the same.

Here's hoping we'll see a lower latency 667 RAM set soon enough.

...Or at least that's what I'm waiting for. But who knows if will ever even happen. I'm sure they could do it by now, especially with DDR2-800 hitting the market, hopefully with latencies of no more than 5.
