CPU upgrade I know this has prob been addressed but what CPU would work in a Compaq C751nr with the lowest price compared to the buck (I have already upgrded my ram to 3gb.
also how hard would the CPU upgrade be or should I have a shop do this for me

I think you mean C751nr, because C752nr is not a compaq laptop.
The system came standard with an Intel pentium dual core T2330 laptop processor, so you should be able to upgrade to a faster socket P processor.
A few members here have upgrade their pentium dual cores to T7500 cpu's, so you should be able to upgrade up to the T7300, T7500, T7700 processors without worrying.
The T8xxx and T9xxx intel processors most likely will not work because of bios recognition, and the fact that they are 45nm cpu's. The bios most likely does not have 45nm support, since your system was before these were made, and going into the 45nm zone most likely means the cpu will not be recognized.
But other than that upgrading to a T7100, T7300, T7500, or T7700 will offer a huge performance increase over your T2330 in cpu intensive applications.
upgrading the cpu involces taking the laptop apart. So if you have some small flathead and phillips head screwdrivers you are set.
All you need to do is carefully take the system apart.
(document along the way with pictures so that you know how everything went together)
Than after you remove the old cpu, and install the new one, you need to apply thermal compound to the cpu so that the cpu can conduct heat to the heatsink.
All you need is some arctic silver 5 for this.
Before upgrading the cpu, you should upgrade the Bios of your system to the latest version, so that your system has the best chance of recognizing the processor.
Also when operating on the system, make sure to be grounded, or use an antistatic band so that you do not conduct static electricity to your laptop. It could kill your computer if you do not.

i have upgraded my system from t2330 to t7250. Have to say, overall system performance increases quite noticeably, mainly due to a faster FSB (800 vs 533), resulting in faster memory operations, so thats a good idea to do.
Everything else is said by K-Tron
Good luck!
