Hello all,
I am just wondering, are all of notebook's drive are the same size? I am asking this because I thinking to upgrade my notebook's cdrw/dvd combo drive to dvd-rw drive. I know some notebooks may require for you to remove the fateplate of the old drive and put it on the new drive, thats no problem for me.
TIA
JC

I think width is standard, but height is variable.

Well then, I guess I have to messure my drive. Thanks.

Most of them are the standard 12.8mm.

The Dell uses a standard 12.7mm drive. Only ThinkPads and a few others use the super slim drives to help keep them thin. Another option would get an external desktop drive which will offer better speed and quality unless you are planning on burning while on the go.

BenQ DVDRW with lightscribe. I bought a USB enclosure and that drive, so I can make it into a external drive and saved me some $$$.
Anyway, I will keep that, 12.7mm, info in my mind once I have decided to upgrade. Thanks all.

Btw, where is a good place to buy these notebook drive? Because I havent seen much, like in newegg.com.
Thanks.

NewEgg is a good place. You can also pick up an enclosure for your BenQ there as well.

I'm pretty sure they're all the same except for super slims.
Only difference is in the encasing and rails used for certain laptop brands like Asus does with their models. -
Thanks guys.
