Ok, I just noticed a little problem with my CD Drive that has NEVER happened before.

I tried burning a CD a few days ago, and it seemed to be going fine, I let it go overnight cause I was tired, and checked on it in the morning.

I come back, and WMP says it's done, and I open it, and try it out, but nothing burned.

So I put it back in, and it said it was blank, so I try and take it back out, but it wont open.

I restarted my comp, and it opens fine now.

Today I tried a different CD, and my Nero just froze completely.

And for some reason, it took a good 30 seconds for my computer to recognize the blank CD, and pop up the options if I want to burn a CD, browse the CD, etc, etc.

I tried loading a Game on it, and the game opens up just fine.

Why is my CD Drive acting up? I tried updating the drivers, but with no effect.

    It's a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632N ATA Device
It burns CD's, DVD's, and it's also Lightscribe.

Ok, well I just used one of my more expensive CD's to burn on (a Lightscrive CD), and it burned fine.

However, the little light on my Drive kept flashing (which means it is in use) when Windows said it was done, and I could not open the drive, no matter how many times I clicked the button.

Anyone got an idea whats going on?

Couple of things I'd check like:

There's nothing scheduled in Task Manager to burn onto disk. Sometimes you click and accidentally drag folders/files by mistake onto the CD/DVD drive. I'm speaking from the XP Pro point of view, sorry, may not be the same in Vista but it's worth checking.

Check your laptop's support site for any firmware updates (Vista not XP) for your CD/DVD drive.

Remove and reinstall driver assigned to that device... I don't know but I always do this step in SAFE mode for some reason, but that's just me.
