    I have a Toshiba TS-L632 DVD±RW LightScribe DVD±R DL model CD drive.

I have been having problems for a while. The drive will read/write blank CD's just fine, as well as regular CD's and DVD's.

The only thing it will not read is Game CD's (Like Fallout 3). I will try to describe this the best I can.

The drive will make a small/low screeching noise (which sounds like the optical eye moving back and forth), and then it will start to rev up, and then it will make a sort of clicking sound (low sound), and this will repeat until it stops reading it.

I would buy another one, but I don't have the funds right now to spend $30 or $40 bucks on a new drive.

Is the drive shot? Or is there a reason it won't read Game DVD's? (Yes, I have tried different games too)

Are they (the DVD's) special? Do they utilize dual layers, or crazy protection schemes.

    Or are they simply scratched?

Have you tried to gently clean the lens on the player?

Oh, I see you have tried many game dvd's... could it be a virus then?

Hope some of these guesses help?

The DVD's are all normal, as well as the CD's and Game DVD's.

The lens seems perfectly fine, and I always take care of my CD's, so there is no scratches on them.

It could be a virus, but this has been happening for quite a while (I just never really cared because I hardly used it). I have done at least 2 Windows re-installs since the life of my computer, so I don't think it's a virus.

For now I have just swapped drives with a old computer I had lying around (thankfully it fit).
