    How would a 2.0ghz Core Duo match up against a 1.8ghz X2 Tl-56?

If two laptops shared the same price and components, but with a different cpu, which would be the better deal?

    Thanks,

    Tony

The CD undoubtedly if all else is the same. Are you talking about a CD or C2D (Merom) or C2D (Santa Rosa)?

No just, Core Duo, not the Core 2 Duo.

    Thanks,

CD and X2 are pretty equal performance wise, clock for clock. But CD has better batterylife and less heat (I think). Since the CD is faster, it'll give you better performance. However, the X2 has 64 bit. What are the rest of the specs?

As fabarati said, about equal at the same clock speeds. (So since the Core Duo in your example is 200mhz faster, it'd probably be a bit faster overall)
