Compaq Presario SR1610NX running windows xp.

My computer says that the CD rom is there, but when you double click on the CD rom it says there is nothing their. You can't load anything from the CD rom. Yes, there is an undamaged CD in the CD rom. WHen I put in the CD, it appears that the cd rom powers up and spins the disk.

Sometimes in the morning, the autoplay from the CD will be booted up and I can play the game. However, if I exit out of the autoplay and try to use the CD rom, the CD rom still does not work.

Any idea's how to fix this? I've alredy made sure all the wires are connected properly.

Then when I double click on the CD rom I get this below.

I had this problem before... although i had a certain cd , it just wouldn't read... tried it on another laptop which read the cd.. my own laptop could read other cds but just not this one... try seeing if other cds are being read and if not do this... go to device manager. Uninstall your cd drive by uninstalling the driver... restart and the driver will reinstall from the os and see if this causes the drive to work.. hopefully it does.
