Hi eveybody,
I purchased a brand-new Sager NP7338/Clevo W230SS from XOTIC PC back in July.2014, and I've been having some rather intermittent problems with it so far. Well, it's escalated to the point of being rather frustrating to deal with.
First, the specifications of my laptop:
- Intel® Core(TM) i7-4710MQ CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
- NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 860M GDDR5 (2.0GB)
- STT SUPERTALENT02 8GB RAM
- Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Internal Solid State Drive (boot drive) (added)
- 750GB WD HDD
- Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (replaced default)
- Windows 8.1 x64
ever since i bought the device and installed win8.1, I've been experiencing boot blank screens. the issue starts right after passing the windows booting screen, the screen stays blank ; functional but blank. i had to turn it off forcibly for several times in order to surpass to the welcome screen. So far I've had a temporary solution where i keep hibernating my laptop every time instead of shutting it down.
so far, i've tried everything to solve it. i even replaced the 30 pin screen cable. updated the bios, installed prema and still the problem persisted
If ever anyone knows a solution for this case pls help.

Did you do a clean install of Win8.1? Did you remove the HDD while you were installing Win8.1?
Did you install the specific drivers for Win8.1x64 from the manufacturer for the parts that remained unchanged?
Have you kept up with driver, firmware, BIOS, O/S and program updates? Firmware for the SSD, of course being the most pertinent, I would think.
Considering that these issues were experienced from the start, I think that the problem is wrong drivers installed or drivers installed in the wrong order (effectively a wrong driver).
Another possible issue may be the heat the M500 produces. It would seem strange that this would affect a cold boot, but when I tested the M500 a couple of years ago, I returned it immediately because they run way too hot for my liking in a notebook's cramped chassis.
I would suggest anything short of a clean install of Windows 8.1 x64 followed by the proper driver installation and paying attention to the order too, is what will resolve this issue fully.
Anything else will be time not so well wasted.
Good luck. -
I would second tiller's suggestion.. Do a reinstall of Windows 8.1 and a completely clean one.. Driver order wise, I think the main problem is with your GPU drivers.. I would use the NVIDIA 344.75 driver and make sure you install the Intel and then NVIDIA GPU driver, restarting after installing each GPU driver...
