Brief intro: I have a Legion Y530 for several months now. When I first got it, it has terrible stock paste out of the box. So I decided to do a repaste with Mastergel Maker Nano. Initially the results are fine, however I can notice uneven core temps (around 10C, temps of core 0 and 2 are noticeably higher. stock paste has 20C difference). After a month, temps of core 0 and 2 started to creep up by a few degrees (core 1 and 3 still remain low and same). So I decided to do a repaste again. However, after a month, the same thing happened. I suspect the culprit is the tripod heatsink (uneven pressure, warped etc), however I'm not entirely sure. I've applied the same thermal paste in my brother's Acer Aspire 5 laptop and the thermals remain fine after a few months. Anyone can help how to solve this issue?

Update: Core 1 and 3 are starting to have higher temps too

You heatsink and cpu &/or gpu dies are not touching close enough.

Try IC Diamond, it generally dries up slower than the other pastes i've tried, and it is thick which will help with the poor fit.

No i mean ur heatsink QC is garabage. I have the same problem with my alienware 17. Omg way to fix it and use the same thermal paste. Solder a copper shim on the heatsink to make up for the space. MR fox has video ok it on his YouTube channel. The only thing is us need to find the correct thickness to use. Use the pressure pads to find out. I bought 4 sample pack off of amazing for like to think $15/sample. It was while ago though. But it is the only way

You can also use shims without soldering. just put thermal paste on both side of the shim in such a case. Thats what I do to rectify bad heatsink contact on machines of others.

Depending on the country you are in... could you get/use GC Gelid Extreme thermal paste?
