I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop and am getting an error when I boot using the battery. It boots fine when plugged into the A/C adaptor, but with the battery I get an error message after the Dell screne. The message says "Date-Time-Not-Set Press F1 to continue or f2 to setup."

I spoke with Dell and they said it is a motherboard issue and the cmos battery needs replacing. Does anyone know how to change the cmos battery on an Inspiron? I took it apart, but I can't find where the battery is on the motherboard. I can't find a diagram on Dell's website either.

I believe there is no user removable battery. Did you forget your BIOS password or something? You can probably call dell, prove ownership and get some kind of master password.

    Thread closed.

Call up dell or contact the seller since disussion on how to bypass security measures for any reason is prohibited.
