My wife just got a new job and her boss is considering going with a laptop vs a new desktop. She'll occasionally be doing some Photoshop/Illustrator/Publisher work as well as MS Office. What is the best CPU + RAM combo she should be looking for. A 7200RPM drive or SSD goes without saying and will depend on costs.

^ I second that configuration. SSD is not worth it at this point, btw.

Thanks and your suggestions are what I was leaning towards. However, I think I convinced her boss to get a nice mid level work station AND a laptop. I like dedicated machines for certain tasks.
