    Dear All

I have a question that needs to be addressed. I am considering a purchase pretty soon. However I am thinking of adding the best video-card option I can. In order to keep my costs down, I am also considering upgrading the CPU later on.

Are there are any professionals or retailers or resellers who could do it?
What do you think they would charge along with the price of the processor?

Also... how much time does it take for a technician to replace or upgrade the new processor?

Please suggest your choice of techies regardless of their location in the United states / Canada and if theres any on these forums it would be even better. Just need someone reliable and efficient.

    Thanks guys!

    :D

    Which notebook ? (Link ?)

Centrino/Centrino 2 Platform CPUs are easy to upgrade, but may void the warranty in some cases. Upgrading the GPU is hard, and some notebooks may have the GPU soldered to the motherboard. If upgradeable, mobile GPUs normally cost a fortune.

PP is right... it's almost as easy as adding RAM...

i'll never pay anyone to swap a CPU for me.... you just remove the old one and drop the new one in... it's that easy.

    thanks for the feedback brothers..

The laptops I am considering are either

    Dell Studio / Inspiron

    Hp Pavillion

    or maybe Toshiba Sattelite

Regarding the GPU - is the ATi gpu more battery effecient or the nvidia?

If its ATi then I could go for Studio, if not then Toshiba is out of the picture because it features an Ati video option.
