    Hello,

    I've got HP Pavilion dv1000 series laptop (dv1700 to be more specific) with Intel Celeron M 410 1,46Ghz / 1MB cache/ 533 SL8W2 cpu .

I want to upgrade it to something bit faster. The problem is i'm not sure what motherboard i have.

Pc wizard says NorthBridge : Intel i943/940GML
    SouthBridge : 82801GBM (ICH7-M/U) LPC Interface Controller

Everest: North Bridge: Mobile Intel Calistoga-GML i940GML/i943GML

Mainboards number is DA0CT6MB6F1 REV: F.

Maybe anyone could help to figure what cpu's i can put into my computer?

    Thanks in advance.

    From here:

    See:
    Mobile IntelĀ® 940GML Express Chipset

Your fastest cpu would be a Celeron M450 2.0GHz

I would suggest a new system instead.

I couldn't track down any such processor for sale for you, but I don't think this would be an effective use of your money/time if your really need more performance.

    Good luck.

I'm afraid you are stuck with the celeron cpu because I guess you have 940 chipset and can not be upgraded.
Someone else have found out that he has 940 chipset with the motherboard as yours and the cpu(SL8W2).
Please make sure that I'm wrong before you spend on a new cpu.

The only way to be sure which chipset You have is reading marking directly on the chip. But if it's truly 940glm core solo with 133nhz bus like: T1250, T1350 will work aswell.

well. hp's CPUs are usually at the down side of motherboard. So why dont you just change your motherboard as well..? You HAVE to pull motherboard out to change CPU anyways. that'd give you more space for improvements. i.e. 945 chipset is way better than 940/943 with graphics and other untrimmed abilities. 940 wont do much good for you. You should clean up your vents and fans by the way, too.
