Just curious, would I see a bit difference in games between 1.6ghz dual core 2 & 2ghz dual core 2?
Was gonna get a 1.6ghz dual core 2 processor (my only option)

Not much of a difference, it's a very attractive option now that the price difference between the T5000 series and T7000 series has widened. In Oblivion or CS:S you may see some difference in towns or servers with lots of players or bots (more than say 30).

I got oblivion for the Xbox 360 but I am gonna pick up supreme commander.

You won't see much performance difference unless you intend to do a lot of number-crunching or other CPU-intensive tasks with your notebook. There is also the extra 2 MB of L2 cache that comes with the T7200, but that just goes along with what I just said.
In terms of gaming--I don't think there would be any perceptible difference in performance between the two processors. Both are very powerful and likely more than you really need anyway. Most people overestimate the actual processing power that they really need and never fully utilize the power that they have. -
I pretty much use it for games and normal everyday stuff. No video editing or anything like that. I'm sure the 7900gs 256mb video card will help out too.
thanks. -
Yes, a go 7900 GS will definitely help

well the computer I can get via dell is:
dual core 1.6ghz
2GB ram
160gb sata hard drive
256mb geforce 7900gs
17" widescreen
what I got now is a centrino 1.86ghz, geforce 6600 128mb, 1gb ram -
Yeah that's a gaming notebook...look up the Dell forum for heating issues with the Inspirons though, I'd get a notebook cooler for $20 just to be safe.

that what I figure but what about the new intel chips that supposed to come out

How's your current computer treating you? I think it might be a good idea to hold out until Q2. There are a lot of other things coming with Santa Rosa besides the updated CPUs. -
It's okay but with games like supreme commander and the need for more RAM and dual core, I'm figuring that it may be time to upgdrade.
CPU Difference
