I'm not to savvy on CPU/HD temps, so I am hoping for some clarification on the subject. Discussing in °C.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz
For a computer like mine (In signature), what is about the normal temps for the CPU and HD, and what is the "Critical" point in which the computer might shutdown.
I am just curious because I am wanting to know and be able to monitor the temps, and to see if I get anywhere near critical temps or dangerous when gaming, because it does get a bit hot, but has never shut down on me, or over heated to any of my knowledge.
Thanks.

Critical CPU temp is 100C
OK temps are probably anything less than 80C
Good temps are less than 65C
For the hard drive, generally 55-60C is not good.
On average, my hard drive runs around 40C -

I suggest using rivatunner for monitoring GPU temps/clocks and HW Monitor from CPUID for the CPU/all. If you find your temps 70C + for extended periods of time, you may want to consider undervolting. The results vary anywhere form 10-30% heat reductions. Flipfire has an awesome guide here on NBR. Good luck.

my p4 ht, idles at about 48c

It all depends on the notebook as some do run very hot but anyway.
As has been said
CPU
Critical = 100C
Warm but caution (should not stay up at this temp) = 90C
Warm but OK = 80C
Cool = 60-70C
idle = below 50C
HDD
Death = 60C (some have a max temp of 65C but high temps can kill a HDD)
Very Hot = 55C
Normal = 45-50C
OMG you have good cooling = below 45C -
Hmm, if that's true, guess I have REALLY good cooling. HD is around 30° normally. -
i think hwmonitor is the best for monitoring temps http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

30 is very cool for a hard drive in a notebook.
For your CPU, you should be idling 40-50 and under load mid to high 70's.
