hey all,
i need some advice on this
anyone out there whos using a T7100, can you tell me your normal Idle temperatures? i get about 50 degrees, is that normal?
-
a bit high....i have a d630....the stock T7300 used to idle at 46*C....now have installed T9100 which idles at 42*C after application of AS5....

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Undervolting can help
-
try out RMClock or CPUcool...to monitor and modify the temps....
-
It's not bad, although T7x series should idle at less than that.
Follow the link in my sig and learn about Undervolting, can significantly lower your CPU temps.
It did in my case with about 15C(~30F) -

I would say that 50C is fine, but is that with the an on or off? The controlling factor is the temperature settings for fan operation. My T7300 spends most of its life between 50C (when the fan goes off) and 56C (when the fan switches on again).

Also what application is telling you your temp. There are several and they don't all report the same. Keep that in mind someone else's 46 is useless compared to your 50 if different app.

My T7100 idles in the mid to low 30s only hits 50s under load
-
i would say normal.
-
My t7100 idles between 45 and 52 C. Under load the highest I've seen it go is 72C
-
OMG!! my T7500 idles at 50 deg and at extreme load (when i have Vista on thru VMWare, download somethin and watchin streaming all at the same time) hits 77 to 80% deg!! OMG! shud i worry abt it!

50c is OK,,, 77c to 80c under MAX loads for extended times is a little warm,, bu as best as i can recall, Intel rates Core2Duos for safe opperation of temps of up to 100c,,, and at that point most laptop BIOSs will force the system into idle or even shut the system down depending on how the manufacturer has the BIOS and ACPI configured

There is also a factor of safety built into every component, so if intel rates them for SAFE operation up to 100C, it can realistically go higher before it is damaged, unless your particular cpu has some manufacturing defect(that's what the factor of safety is for).

alright thank you guys, it was getting pretty hot and it was annoying keeping my palm on the thing, pretty weird though because this is not even an year old yet
-
anyways thank you for all your suggestions, on full load I've seen it at around 75 - 81 degrees, not any higher
-
While it is normal. Make sure your vents and heatsink are free of dust. Do not use in a way that obstructs the free flow of air. I also now ask is this heat new? If so then may be an issue even though not dangerous. Give some feedback.

A cpu operating at 80c might not damage itself, but it WILL be heating up other components of the notebook around it, and putting more load on the thermal solution.
