    Hey guys and gals

Just got a COMPAQ Presario M2000 series , as stated in my siggy. Now I am having a problem , its just that the CPU would not go into battery-optimized mode , which is 800Mhz. For your information , I'm using Windows XP SP2 Professional. The PowerNow technology thingy works fine on my Linux [Debian , running Kernel 2.6.12 series]. But on Windows , that thing would still be at 1.8Ghz.

Any ideas how to fix it

Hopefully , I posted this post in the right section. Sorry guys , I am sorta new to here...

    Thank you

as i suggested in the other thread, try Notebook Hardware Control 1.10 Beta 03 - Personal Edition ( http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm#anchor_download).

Fiddle with the settings and see which one suites you -- Dynamic Switching, Battery Optimize, or Battery Maximum to allow machine to automatically optimize resources according to need of the task when running on batteries.

It has been observed that in some machines the actual/current cpu power currently used is not reflected properly but remains at its maximum reading. the NHC is able to go around that "bug" to reflect actual cpu power.

Thanks for the tips , it was pretty handy...Its a great tool , thanks again. Could we underclock the CPU in BIOS or something like that , or is there any application for linux that would do

I dont know for Linux but for Windows you can use NHC...it is made to underclock.
