Can I Put a Core 2 duo T7200 into a Dell E1405 with a T5200? I know answer is probably no, I just have an extra T7200 since the unfortunate death of my Laptop.
Thanks

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yes that should work. Any 667 FSB Core 2 Duo will work. -
Wow thats good to hear!
-
Hey it worked. Thanks
-
Good to know. Now everyone who wonders can check
Did the idle temp get any warmer? -
Both CPU's have the same TDP(34 Watt) and close to the same voltage, so if you factor in good thermal paste the temps should be the same.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Well that's good to hear. You can also try RMClock to undervolt your CPU and keep it cooler. -
:O, so even if the CPU is better ( higher ghz etc) , it won't matter if the TDP is the same?
-
Yep, I can get a Core i7 720QM 1.6Ghz and it has the same heat output as an i7 840QM 2GHz.
Or Core 2 Duo P7350 2GHz and it has the same heat output as a P9600 2.66GHz. -
Well, approximately. TDPs are pretty "loose", so the slower chips will probably put out a little less heat on average, but it'll probably be within the variation from chip to chip as well (some individual chips will run hotter than others, just like some will overclock better than others).

undervolt your CPU using RM clock.. easy to do and it runs cooler..
