Is it worth the upgrade? How much improvement do you think I can get in gaming?

The 9700mGTS is one hell of a graphics card, and tied with a T9400 would be great for any games.

Are you upgrading an actual system, or are you just figuring out which chip to buy with your system?

If you are still deciding which chip to get, go for the T9400, as it will give a good gaming boost, on cpu intensive games.

depends on how well you can sell the one you currently have. If you could sell it, you will definately see a noticable boost in performance.

Probably not worth it just yet.
Continue to come on the forums and check the buy and sell section. People are always selling cpu's their, and you may find a great deal.

Otherwise, you should hold out, and wait a few months before upgrading the cpu. Unless you need a faster cpu to play games.

Get the P8600 if possible. Its just about 0.13GHz slower than the T9400 and is a very capable CPU itself. And the temps won't go very high when the CPU is at full load when playing intensive games (mostly FPS).

ok here is the thing... i have a new acer 5930g laptop... and it has a 9600m gt along with a P7350... it gets 5531 points in 3dmark06...
and i checked the review of the one with a T9400 and same GPU(on notebookjournal) which gets around 5600 points in 3dmark06... in crysis benchmark mine does around 22 fps where as the one with t9400 does 24 fps... so i dont think it will be worth it if u want to upgrade just for pure increase in gaming performance but if u wanna run some CPU intensive stuff lyk Photohop then it mite be worth it....

That small of a jump in CPU power will have little to no effect...other than to lighten your wallet. If you had a crappy GPU you'd notice it a lot more.
