I was given a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2001/PSAA2U-04E018 and want to upgrade the CPU. It's currently a 400fsb 1.7 Celeron M 390 Dothan-Socket 479 mPGA 90nm.
The MB chipset is ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M and I'm not really sure what it will support? I've done as much research I can...and still don't have any solid answers to what I can replace the CPU with.![]()
I've read about 478 vs. 479...still confused? The current CPU is a socket 479...do I need to go with another 479 CPU or can I use a 478?![]()
What's the fastest CPU that this MB will support?![]()
It will support 533mhz memory...can I assume it will handle a 533fsb processor?![]()
I want to go with an Intel Mobile Pentium 4-M 2.2Ghz 478 CPU SL6J5 but not sure if it will work with this laptop. The FSB is 400mhz but will the ATI chipset support this CPU? Toshiba's website is of no help either...is their anyone here who can give me any solid answers?![]()
Thanks for your help in advance....

Welcome to the forums.
Only Pentium M Skt 479s will will, not Pentium 4 Ms. I imagine any Pentium M would work, seeing as your Celeron is Dothan (the highest FSB of the Pentium Ms is 533MHz). -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Yeah, you can only Pentium M processors, but any Pentium M will work. The fastest processor you can get is the 2266MHz Pentium M 780.
