    Hi Guys,

I have a 3 year old Acer travelmate 8210 with T7200 Merom cpu and i945PM chipset. I was thinking about upgrading to something like P8800. This would give me less power consumption (25W) and a better FSB (1066).

I have checked processor with CPUZ 1.53 and it tells me that i have socket479 mPGA type. However i have tried to find the same CPU on INTELs website with same stepping and revision nr. INTELs site tells me that my cpu should have Package Type: Micro-FCBGA which is the older socket M for Core Duo cpus..

Most socket P processors that i found on ebay says they have 478pin socket P.

Doesnt make sense. Do i have socket M with 479pins or socket P with 479pins??

Do anyone know if I can use a socket P processor to do this upgrade?

According to The Ultimate CPU Guide http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166906 T7200 uses socket M. But then why is CPUZ telling me that i have 479pins in my socket?

    Would my chipset 945PM support a P8800??

    Could anyone please advice me...thx

chipset 945 won't support processor with 1066 FSB
the best you can go is T7600 for socket M

edit: you can try to OC your system for performance -or undervolt it for less heat and power consumptions, that's what I would do :)

T7600 should be best... but it's too expensive... T7200 , T7400 would be better alternatives ...
