I have a Toshiba Satellite A505D, And it's great as far as ram goes. Graphics are good too, But one limitation I've encountered is my processor. It's only a 2.10Ghz dual core. I've never upgraded a notebook before, only desktops, and have no clue if it's even possible to get a better processor for this machine. I would like to get a high powered CPU to run an undedicated server on, while i play Minecraft. Also a high powered CPU would allow for low latency when im recording Audio. Can someone point me in the right direction? I will provide pictures if needed. Thanks :D

It is possible (unless soldered onto the motherboard). What is your current processor and what would you like to upgrade to?

What's the socket type of your processor?

Download the free 'CPU-Z' and post your screenshot here. Then we can tell you what your best upgrade possibly is.

    That's the easiest way.

Look at the processor, looks like you have AMD's socket S1G2, meaning you are pretty much limited to a faster Turion 64 X2 which unless you are rendering will make minuscule difference anyway. You can try the Turion X2 Ultra but they run way too hot and again hardly an upgrade.

^ yeah. AMDs have very limited upgradeability due to their limited portfolio of CPUs. Don't bother...

How long have you been using your laptop? If it is already more than a year and you haven't done any clean-up it is expected to have high temperatures.

Copy what Zeptinune said, open up your laptop and repast it. However, this will void your warranty. You can send it to Toshiba but...., it is a Toshiba, really what do you expect?

Repasting your CPU AFAIK will not void your warranty unless it directly causes issues (not pasted properly) or if you break something else in the process (accidentally crack the bottom casing or something else to that nature). Considering manufacturers mound on the cheapest stuff possible, it is no wonder many laptops have heat issues.
